Terms of Use
Welcome to Segelly, the app that helps you keep, organize and share your own and your family's medical records. These terms govern your use of the app and should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. By using the app you agree to these terms; if you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. What Segelly is, and what it isn't
- Segelly is a personal record-keeping tool: you add lab results, prescriptions, conditions, medications, allergies, vaccinations and photos of documents, and share them with your doctor when you choose.
- Segelly is not a medical service: it does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice, and it is no substitute for seeing a doctor. Decisions about your health should be made with a qualified doctor.
- Segelly is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call an ambulance on 123 right away and don't rely on the app.
2. Your account
- The account holder must be an adult (18 or older).
- You sign up with your phone number or with Google or Apple. Keep your details accurate, and make sure the number you register is yours and in your hands.
- You are responsible for keeping your phone and your account secure, and we recommend turning on the app lock with a PIN or fingerprint. If you suspect someone has accessed your account without permission, contact us straight away.
- Accounts are personal: don't create an account in someone else's name or use another person's account.
3. Family members' records
- Children (under 18): a parent or guardian manages the child's record from their own account. By adding a child, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian or otherwise legally responsible for their care.
- Adults: you may manage another adult's record only with their consent, or on a legal basis that entitles you to (such as guardianship). You attest to that consent or legal basis in the app, we record your attestation, and you are responsible for it being true.
- If the adult has their own account, they can revoke your access to their record at any time.
4. Your data and its accuracy
- The data you add is yours. We use it only to run the service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter in your record and in the records you manage. We don't review data medically and can't guarantee it is free of errors.
- Values read from photos (once that service is switched on) are extracted automatically and may contain mistakes, which is why we show them to you before saving. You must check each value against the original paper before relying on it.
- Keep your original reports and prescriptions: the app holds an organized copy of them, not a replacement.
5. Sharing with a doctor or others
- Every share is your decision, made through a temporary link or QR code, limited to the data, time window and number of opens you choose. The person you share with gets a read-only view.
- Anyone who has a share link can open it until it expires, you revoke it, or it reaches its limit on the number of opens. So send links only to people you trust, and revoke a link immediately if it reaches someone else by mistake.
- You are responsible for choosing whom you share with. Once a recipient has viewed the data, we cannot control what they do with what they saw or noted down.
6. Acceptable use
When using Segelly, you agree not to:
- Impersonate anyone, or claim a status you don't have (such as claiming guardianship of someone, or their consent).
- Upload or share medical data or documents about another person without the right to do so.
- Try to access accounts or data that aren't yours, or get around security measures or sharing limits.
- Attack, disrupt or overload the app or its servers with automated requests, or try to decompile or reverse engineer it in order to break into or copy it.
- Upload harmful content (such as malware) or illegal content, or use the app for any unlawful purpose.
If you find a security vulnerability, please report it to us rather than exploit it.
7. A free service
- Segelly is free for patients and shows no ads.
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for advertising, as our Privacy Policy explains.
- If we ever introduce a paid service, we will say so in advance, and you will never be charged without your agreement.
8. Beta and availability
- Segelly is currently in beta and is provided "as is" and "as available". There may be bugs or temporary outages for maintenance or updates, and we may add, change or remove features.
- We do our best to protect and preserve your data, but we can't guarantee that the service will always run without interruption or errors.
- We may ask you to update to the latest version of the app to keep using it.
9. Limits of our responsibility
- To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for medical or other decisions made on the basis of data in the app, for errors in data you entered or confirmed, or for the consequences of a share you made or a link that reached someone you didn't intend.
- Nothing in these terms limits any right that cannot be waived under Egyptian law.
10. A copy of your data, and deleting your account
- You can save copies of your documents from the app, and you can ask us for a copy of your data at any time. We recommend saving anything you need before you delete your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from within the app. Deletion permanently erases your medical record and photos and revokes all open shares; only the security event trail remains, with no medical content, for as long as the law requires, as our Privacy Policy explains. See the account deletion page for details.
- If you seriously breach these terms, or your account is used in a way that harms others or the service, we may suspend or restrict your account, and will tell you why whenever we can.
11. Intellectual property
The Segelly name, logo, app design and software belong to us and may not be copied or used without permission. Your data and documents remain yours.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will tell you in the app and on this website before it takes effect, and update the "last updated" date above. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept it; if you don't agree, you can stop using the app and delete your account.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. We will try to resolve any dispute amicably first; failing that, the Egyptian courts have jurisdiction.
14. Contact us
